Let's Spring into Embroidery

Let's get together and review a few basis before we add new techniques.  To attend, you should know basic machine operation such as threading, design download, and your machine screen options. 

The first class we will begin with a thread and stabilizer intro and complete a small applique project.  You will be provided wth a project kit that includes a tea towel.   Several shop machines will be available to use or you may bring your own.  Let us know if you will need a shop machine when signing up.

Basic Sewing Supplies such as scissors, seam ripper, etc.
Bobbin with white thread
Thread (choose color to accent spring design along with basic white and black)

Let's Do More Embroidery

Ready to try another project with your embroidery machine?  Let's do something cheerful and spring-like!  Project kits will be available for you to choose from. 

We will have a short discussion about design placement.  As before, the shop will have several machines available for use, please let us know when registering if you need one.

Jacqueline de Jonge Class

Date: October 22, 23 and 24

Jacqueline is coming back from the Netherlands.  She will be teaching a 3 day workshop and you can choose either her Bluebell pattern or the Feeling Frosty pattern.  The fabrics have just arrived to we will be kitting them soon.


CLASS PAYMENT & REFUND POLICY

1) Any class where the fee is more than $100, 50% is due when you sign up. The other 50% of the fee is due 60 days before the class begins. To sign up please call or stop by the store.

2) Classes where the fee is less than $100 must be paid in full when you sign up for class.

3) If you need to cancel more than 60 days before the start of class, any fees paid are refundable except for an administrative fee of 10%. If it is less than 60 days, the fee (less admin fee) can be refunded only if your space in class can be filled.

Beginner Serger Class 


Dates: Monday Jan. 22, Jan. 29, and Feb. 5

If you are new to serging this is the class for you.  Londa will start with the basics and by the end of the 3 weeks you will have completed a small project.  I have known Londa many years and she is a lot of fun so I'm sure the class will also be fun.  The students from the last 2 beginner classes are calling all the time asking for more classes.  Please bring your manual with your Serger, 4 threads (each a different color) and basic sewing supplies to the first class. 

Making a T-Shirt with your Serger 


Dates: Monday Feb. 12 and Feb. 19 
Time: 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Oh boy have I been waiting for this class.  You will learn to make a t-shirt that is just right for you.  I like a little longer length in the sleeves so I can't wait to make my first one.  You will need to go purchase the pattern at another shop that will not be named!  You know, the big one that starts with a J.  Stop in to get the supply sheet and sign up, space will fill up fast on this one.  You must have taken Londa's Beginning Serger Class to take this class. 

Piecing and Binding Your Quilt with a Serger 


Dates:  Monday Mar. 4 and Mar. 11 
Time: 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Session 1 you will learn to piece your quilt.  Session 2 you will learn to apply binding to your quilt.  Bring a jelly roll or 40 2 1/2" strips, your serger and basic sewing supplies.  You must have taken Londa's Beginning Serger Class to take this class.

Call to reserve your spot as space is limited.  We used to call these Open Sew Days but Finish Friday sounds so much better.  Bring in a project that has been hanging over your head and let's get it done.  It's always so much easier to work on something you don't want to when you are surrounded by other quilters.  Bring your lunch and project and let's get this stuff done!

Make a T-Shirt
with your Serger

Do you want to learn more about your Serger and what it can do for you?  Londa will teach you how to make a t-shirt.  You will need to go to Joanne's (I can't believe I'm sending you there) to buy the McCall's Pattern M7331.  You will also need to buy your jersey knit there for the t-shirt.  The pattern will tell you how much fabric you will need.  You will also want to have matching thread for your serger.  Londa will go over all the different knits in the first class and will have samples, so if you want to wait until after the first class to buy your fabric that will work.

3 Thread Flatlock Serger piecing for Quilts

This class will teach you how to piece a quilt using your serger.  Stitch a bag or placemat.  You will be embellishing with decorative thread.  Bring 3 fat quarters that coordinate and 1/2 yard fabric for backing.  You will also need 1-2 spools of 12 weight thread to coordinate.

Beginning Quilting

Have you always wanted to learn to quilt?  Now is your chance and just in time to make this project into a Christmas gift.  You will get the fabric to make the front of the quilt.  Backing and batting will be extra.  You will need to have a sewing machine in working order that you know how to use.  We will supply cutters, mats and rulers in class for those of you who don't have them.  There will be a discount for students who wish to purchase those items.

Londa is really an expert on sergers.  Join her for some basic classes to help you become more fimiliar with your serger.  You will need to bring your own serger and threads.  If you don't own a serger but are thinking of buying you can use one of the shop machines for this class (on a first come first serve basis).
